I’d like every one to meet my most dedicated and punctual “study buddy” & coworker:
Capa Barduhn!
Late at night, as I work on photos, surf blogs, and generally finish up the work of the day, I am almost never alone. Capa’s crate is directly next to my desk, but I’m just a big softie, so I usually let her out, keeping one eye on her to make sure she doesn’t get into any trouble.
I almost never have to worry, because she always chooses to sprawl out directly behind my chair’s rollers. This is cute, but annoying at times, as I tend to get up and make green tea/coffee and whatnot, and have rolled over her on more than one occasion. I can’t complain though, as this habit of hers just makes me all tingly, and reminds me of my grandmothers’ GSD “Alicia” who’s bed was actually under the desk by her feet. Alicia would sleep under the desk while they worked. As a little kid, I used to think this was just the coolest thing ever, and would consistently lay there with the dog, much to the chagrin of anyone within smelling distance for the rest of the day.
The fact that my own shepherd some 20 years later would possess a similar habit is awesome. (Till I run her over, yet again)
This habit seems to be innate, as she started displaying it from the very first week I picked her up:
How can anyone not like dogs?![]()
That’s about it for tonight, downloading some images from a freelance shoot this afternoon, and caching up on “bones” episodes.
More Soon,
John (& Capa) Barduhn
